Issue 12 a look forward

After having spent the last 11 issues building the team, I'm kind of happy hitting issue 12 - although to be honest, it was a wake up call in a way - I set out to do this as a monthly comic and I'm kind of mad at myself that I didn't stick with that schedule.  If I had, issue 12 would have come out in April of 2019 instead of November of 2019, so my resolution for next year is to try my best to keep the comic monthly.

This issue kicks off a 3 part story, although it was originally planned to be a 2 part story, issue 12 was running very long so I broke it up and had to hurry up to come up with a cover for it.  What was actually going to be the cover to issue 12 got pushed back to be the cover to issue 13.

In this story line we see the villains invading Diodarius' realm where they find just a small handful of his children there.  This leads the Ultra-Elite Team to come to their assistance, but the question remains - will that be enough?  This story introduces several new characters and has some shocking twists and turns, leading to the set up of what is coming later that will affect the team for years to come.

Here's a link to the issue, if you want to check it out on Youtube:  Issue 12  or you can go to Fotki and check it out there was well.

One of the things that interesting is that we get to see some of Diodarius' ream:

We also get to see the whole team in action - and boy has the whole team grown from the original six members it started with back in issue 1, today it looks like:

Well, enough chatting - I better get back to work on issue 13.

Three Part Story

Over the last 11 issues the Ultra-Elite Team has been assembled - now they face their greatest threat - all out war!

When the forces of G'Ion Detheon invade Diodarius' realm, the children of Diodarius are greatly out-numbered, but when the Ultra-Elite Team arrives to help - will it be enough?  Can they all make it home alive?

We'll find out when the first issue comes out later this week!

Below are the covers for the next three issues:

Saxx and Cord

In the newest issue I introduced two new characters, Saxx and Cord.

There is a lot of mythology already in the comic and there is more to come as time goes on.  With their introduction, I pay homage to the Norse Gods.  Up until this point in the issues I've only been dealing with the Greek Gods.

Saxx and Cord are interesting characters for me - when I wrote the original stories for my comic (years ago) I actually didn't plan to reveal what the relationship was between them - boy/girl friend, husband/wife, brother/sister, etc... In fact in the original stories I had it more of a running joke as to not reveal their relationship and keep everyone guessing.

When I was working on getting ready to launch my comic back in 2012 I decided to take a different approach to them and reveal what their relationship to each other was; which we learn in issue # 11, I actually thought it might be funnier this way.

They've come a long when from when I first designed them, but I thought I'd give you a look at my first drawings of the characters:

Issue 11

Issue # 11 is finally up, titled Team Building.

The team gets ready to move into their new headquarters, and along the way we find out how they are paying for their operation.  Meanwhile, the forces of G'Ion Detheon are on the move and that attracts the attention of some Norse Gods.

Ultra-Pedia

In order to make my universe more user-friendly, I decided to create mini-encyclopedia pages for each of my characters, which I'm calling Ultra-Pedia.

I'm attaching the first one here, but all of the rest will be Webtoons and the Fotki photo-hosting site (both in the links)

Webtoons

After thinking about it for a while (and wanted to get more content produced), I decided to put my comic up on Webtoons!

I only published it about a half hour before writing this post.

Here's the link...Webtoons

Here's how it looks right after I launched it:
Then when clicking on the Superhero category, I was the lead one for a while...
Hopefully this will bring the comic to a wider audience.

I do have to say that the colors on Webtoons are much brighter and pretty much the way that originally created them, not the darker colors that happens on YouTube when I upload them there.

For now I'll continue to upload to both, but in the future I might lean more toward Webtoons, I don't know yet...

Please feel free to check it out - you don't have to sign up on Webtoons to read them (and they have some other cool stuff there too besides my comic).

Issue 10

Issue 10 is up!  It took me much longer than I thought to get this one done, but it's finally finished.

Here's a link:Issue 10

This issue was a bit of a challenge for me, it took place in Italy, in the towns of Rome, Popoli and Fossacesia, the last two being towns where my ancestors came from.  Besides doing my comic I'm also bigt into genealogy and I wanted to pay homage to my genealogy work.  While most of the rest the characters I've been using so far were created a long time ago, Italus (who debuts in this issue) and all connections to Italy were created in 2015 as I was outlining the stories I wanted to tell for the first two years and I'm happy with how those parts turned out.

The tricky part is that I was using some very real places - besides the ones in Italy, I was also using Times Square in NYC and Seattle, Washington, so I was trying to match colors as much as I could, and that slowed me down a heck of a lot more than I thought it would - but that's alright, tonight I'll relax and tomorrow I'll start working on the next issue.

This issue also introduced a few new characters and concepts that will go on to play a pretty big role as the series advances.

Lastly, there was only one deleted scene which I'll include here.  In the issue Titan asks Phantom, Phantom Queen and Serpent to go on a mission and I did two panels showing them betting ready to go, but I realized after I inked it that I really didn't need to panels for that, so here's the one that got cut:

AI Art

I am aware of the debate of AI for artistic purposes and I debated myself if I wanted to use it.   I can truthfully say that do not, have no...
